SUDMINE Scientific and Technical Committee (STC) is made up of internationally recognised experts who intervene to help, guide and validate choices made by the Executive Committee. The technical capacities of SUDMINE, its associates and its Scientific and Technical Committee cover all the fields necessary for the smooth running of the exploration and rational exploitation of the mine.
Luc BARBANSON
Metallogeny teacher-researcher
D. in Geology and Metallogeny from the University of Orleans and lecturer-researcher at the Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers en région Centre (OSUC). His main field of study is metallogeny and more precisely multi-scale textural and mineralogical studies of mineral deposits in relation to local geological history. Recently, he has been focusing on using the heterogeneity functions of Pierre Gy (French chemist and statistician) to characterize the textures of coherent solids, to construct predictivity maps for mineral resources, to model mineralurgical processes and to evaluate the release lattice of different ores. In particular, he is a recognized expert in sampling techniques.
Alain CHEILLETZ
Metallogeny teacher-researcher
D. in Geology and Metallogeny and Professor Emeritus at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie de Nancy (ENSG). A recognized specialist in the world of base metal and gold metallogeny, he has also worked extensively on the traceability of precious stones. He has extensive field experience and has notably contributed to the development of the Moroccan mining sector.
Olivier FABBRI
Teacher-researcher in structural geology
A graduate of the École Supérieure de l'Énergie et des Matériaux (Polytech' Orléans) and holder of a PhD in Structural Geology from the University of Orléans, Olivier FABBRI first worked as a geologist in a design office in Japan. He is currently a lecturer-researcher at the University of Franche-Comté de Besançon. His main fields of research are Structural Geology and Sismo-Tectonics.
J-F. MOYEN
Teacher-researcher in petrology and geochemistry
Holder of a Doctorate in Petrology and Geochemistry from the Blaise Pascal University in Clermont-Ferrand and now a teacher-researcher at the Jean Monnet University in Saint-Etienne. Since 2009, he has also been an associate professor of Life and Earth Sciences at the ENS Lyon. His main fields of study are the petrology and geochemistry of magmatic rocks, the geochemistry of Archean rocks and the partial fusion of the crust. Jean-François also has extensive field experience, particularly in South Africa, India, Sudan and the French Massif Central.
Olle OSTENSSON
Mining Economist
He holds a Master's degree in Economics from Stockholm University and a degree in Economic Geography and Philosophy from the Universities of Uppsala and Stockholm. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Geneva. Specialized in commodity trade, he has extensive experience in the economics of mineral resources and has notably worked :
- In Switzerland, between 2007 and 2008, on behalf of UNCTAD in Geneva as Head of the Minerals, Metals and Energy Section;
- In Sweden, between 1972 and 1981, for the Ministry of Industry, as Economist, then as Head of Section "Mining".
During his career, he has been involved in numerous projects in the field of mineral resources and has an expert profile in mining economics.
Michel CUNEY
Metallogeny teacher-researcher
Holder of a PhD in Geology from the University Henry Poincaré of Nancy and research director at the CNRS, at the GeoRessources laboratory in Nancy. He has been awarded the SGA-Newmont Gold Medal, an international prize that rewards forty years of original research on uranium. In June 2013, he was also awarded the Barbier Prize from the Société Géologique de France for his excellent scientific research work in connection with the industry. Michel CUNEY is one of the world's leading specialists in uranium depositology.
